High Voltage Insulators
High voltage insulators support and separate electrical conductors while preventing unwanted current flow through towers, poles, substations and overhead transmission systems. Correct material selection, mechanical strength and electrical performance are essential for safe long-term operation.
Contune INTL supplies and supports solutions for polymer, porcelain and toughened glass insulators used in transmission, distribution and substation applications. Typical voltage classes range from 11 kV to 245 kV, with project requirements based on IEC, ANSI or customer-specific standards.
Main insulator types
- Composite/polymer insulators for overhead transmission and distribution lines.
- Porcelain insulators including pin, post, suspension and station post types.
- Toughened glass insulators for transmission line applications.
- Line post, tension, suspension, shackle and stay insulators for different installation scenarios.
Testing and quality control
Insulators must pass mechanical and electrical tests before use. Common tests include tensile load, cantilever load, bending, torsion, thermal-mechanical cycle, puncture, power frequency withstand, tracking and erosion tests. Contune INTL provides equipment and project support for these quality control requirements.
Production and turnkey support
For composite insulator manufacturers, we can also provide production machines and turnkey planning support, including crimping, rubber injection, curing, assembly and final inspection equipment.
